Business Profile

Our history... Nay Nay's Beauty Salon Worthing was formed in the lounge of a little cottage in the town centre of Worthing, West Sussex in 2012. Set to the sounds of Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam, Naomi spent countless hours perfecting her skillset in the company of her then-two-year-old daughter, Evie-Rose. As a single mother at the time, childcare was a luxury Naomi could seldom afford; therefore, working around mummy life was the only option. So with little Evie in tow, up went the couch and in streamed a trickle of bright faces looking to support a mummy on a mission!

Naomi qualified as a beauty therapist in July 2013 - her hard work paid off and by the time the summer arrived, Naomi had a steady base of regular clients that supported her flexible approach. She was officially in business and 'Nay Nay's' was born. Over the next year, Naomi had a new-found confidence: it was incredibly empowering making her own way in life, supporting her daughter and nurturing a brand new business. Through this, Naomi found the path to lighten her baggage and repair her broken relationship. Soon after, her family was whole again.

By 2014 she built up enough demand to rent a small room in a photography studio and also fell pregnant with her son, Charlie. Naomi had her head held high (even though she spent the majority of her time looking down a toilet!). Charles George was born in July 2014 and the November of that year saw a new addition to the Nay Nay's story: a ring. The new addition at home meant another move and the attic of their home made a wonderful space for treatments.

Now an engaged mum of two, it was time to get serious - Naomi learned the power of a #agoodgossip and began networking. For months and months she met new and inspiring business owners, took time to listen to their experiences and gained invaluable advice on managing and growing a small business (she also happened to meet some amazing wedding suppliers which came in handy too!). By the summer of 2015, maternity leave was over and Naomi was putting into practice what she had learned; business turned from a trickle to a steady flow and it showed no signs of slowing.

Naomi married in August 2015 and true to her word, continued to support others - even on her wedding day! Worthing Birdman preceded all nuptials so Naomi could cheer the networking members who had supported her. Forbidden from jumping, she attended in a wedding gown and waved off the maiden flight! After their honeymoon it was back to business - never forgetting to network, network, network! In fact, Naomi enjoyed networking so much that come November she decided to make a huge investment in herself and started managing the very group that helped her find her mojo: Mumpreneurs.

Naomi's CV was now reading something like: Mother of two, Wife, College Graduate, Business Owner, Networking Manager - all in under three years! A short while later, she was nominated for the Sunny Worthing business awards in the 'Sunniest Service Sector Business' and WON! Literally one day after her 3rd business birthday, Naomi collected the local award with absolute pride. The dedication to her family, her values and her clients was tremendously rewarding. But, it was time to grow and utilise the skills she had learned over the past few years. In June 2016 the boutique opened, 1 week after getting the keys! A tremendous 7 day renovation project enabled Naomi to open quickly with minimal disruption to her clients and home commitments. Much like Naomi, the boutique was a work in progress, but it was hers and it was a space in which she could grow and grow it did! Within just a few weeks, a team of equally passionate therapists were assembled and are working hard to be the best they can be.

What makes us unique... Our mantra is at the core of everything we do at our Beauty Salon; we have created a beautiful and contemporary space for each of our clients to enjoy. We often host workshops and classes around our statement nail bar or drift off to cloud nine in our heavenly treatment room. We cater for parties of all ages and can host groups with ease and excitement. Every client that walks through our doors is greeted like an old friend and warmly welcomed in readiness for their chosen treatment. Here is how our mantra works on a day to day basis:

“Inspiring excellence in oneself and others; to promote positive self adoration and contentment”

Each member of staff at Nay Nay’s Beauty Boutique has a specialist treatment, a service that they are genuinely passionate about. Whether you require the waxing skills of Angela, the pedicure pleasures with Jo, the skincare enthusiasm of Karen or the lashes created by Naomi, you are in professional hands. We all see our ‘jobs’ as a lifestyle; we live and breathe our passion and want to share it with you. We want to enable you to look in the mirror and feel nothing but satisfaction and a sassy sense of confidence. We are there to listen to you, to pamper you and to be your confidant because we believe that beauty is more than skin deep - it comes from within.

“To be a source of support to members of our community in need, on a physical and emotional premise and to nurture those in education, to further their own knowledge and development within the beauty industry and support them in their goals and aspirations.”

Since October 2016, Nay Nay’s Beauty Boutique has be supporting the local college that Naomi herself trained with in 2012. Each week a new set of Level 2 and 3 students will be based at the boutique to gain nurturing industry experience. You may find them at reception, or practising their mani and pedi skills in their very own nail station! We are so pleased to see our clients be so supportive of this as they are the therapists of tomorrow and we are truly grateful to be able to witness them grow over the 2016/17 academic year.

“Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.”

Nay Nay’s Beauty Boutique also supports our local MENCAP charity shop. We whole-heartedly support the work of the charity and their ethos as it is a topic very close to Naomi’s heart. To find out more about the charity, please visit http://www.worthingmencap.org/ or to find out more about how we support our local charity shop (found a few doors away), scroll up to the treatment menu and book in for a MENCAP manicure or pedicure.

“To enable all staff to work flexibly, thus promoting work/life balance and peace of mind”

Over the course of each year Naomi and her colleagues support various other charities and causes with ‘community days’ - our staff are contracted to spend two days per year working with an organisation of choice. This was an idea formed early on as Naomi began to spend time with ladies at Worthing Hospital undergoing treatment for cancer. She donated her time to empower these women to feel like ‘them’ again by providing make-up advice and mini beauty treatments. Making time for others is at the absolute the core of Naomi’s values and she believes in her team having the opportunity to do the same.

Becoming a mother opens your world to thoughts and feelings you just do not expect as a new parent. Working out how to spend time with family and earn a living is still one of the great challenges many people face on a daily basis. Parents aside, EVERYONE has the right to a work-life balance, to spend their time happily and with a sense of fulfilment. Here at the boutique you’ll notice we open late, sometimes start later and have various treatments on offer with different members of the team. That is because the working hours and treatments you enjoy are chosen by each staff member individually. This enables our team to have a great work/life balance which ultimately benefits you, as our client! We are all eager to get to work, because we love what we do! Our girls even get an annual ‘duvet day’ to simply spend a day doing whatever they would like to, in a spontaneous fashion – every woman’s dream!
